Summer Retreat Header & Custom HTML Code

During warm weather, people love to spend more time outdoors, and sometimes the line between what is "indoors" and what is "outdoors" can be made to disappear by creating an outdoor living space that is an inviting extension of your home.

Just as you would create a particular mood or style inside your home, you can create a distinctive atmosphere in any outdoor space:

LOOK, CONSIDER, & IMAGINE

Study the space you have to work with. Take note of it's features. Decide what you would like to highlight and what you may want to disguise. Consider how you would like the space to be used. For example, if you like cooking outdoors, you may want to consider a built-in grill and a comfortable seating area for dining. Then look for design inspiration in magazines, specialty stores, and show rooms.

A fountain, waterfall, or small pond can add an exotic feel to your patio area. The soothing sound of the running water not only creates a relaxing atmosphere, but it can also help to drown outside noises. This is especially helpful in urban areas or for home that have close neighbors.
